La Luz de Jesus Gallery

4633 Hollywood Blvd.

Los Angeles, CA 90027
(323) 666-7667

February 7 – March 2, 2013
Opening Reception: Friday, February 7th, 8-11 PM

Dave Lebow is old school. He’s got a wickedly contemporary retro style that recalls the pulp magazines of long ago. It’s not difficult to picture Dave’s paintings accompanying the words of H.P. Lovecraft or Robert E. Howard, and his pieces are sought by collectors who grew up reading those authors and collecting art connected to them.

Viewers of the cult series Dexter will recognize Lebow as the man behind the Doomsday Killer‘s paintings in the second to last story arc, which were showcased here at La Luz de Jesus Gallery in 2012.
Contact Matt Kennedy, Gallery Director for availability and purchase info: (323) 666-7667

You're one of the best artists I've seen on the site. You have excellent work that I could see someday in a history or autobiographical book.

You did the paintings for the doomsday killer? That's amazing. I have a few original demon paintings as well as a Dexter drawing. Dexter is one of my favorite shows.

as a professional artist. what do you think of people who paint over images they do not own or create? where is the legal line, in let's say "Bobby Bobkins paused his favorite tv show in a scene he likes using his capture card, saved an image and painted over it in photoshop, uploaded it and said he did it freehand, he also went to cafepress and put it on mugs and canvas prints"

some people say that is an excellent way to learn. others say it is the only way some people express them self and they should be respected for, at least doing something with their life instead of being mean to people who do that.
